January 03, 2008 : Geezer Rock Given Live Wire Award As One Of 2007
Donnie Morehouse, music critic and nightlife guru of the Sprinfield Republican newspaper, has chosen Geezer Rock by Dan Daniels and Your No Good Buddies as a recipiant of the Live Wire Award for 2007, as one of the ten best local music CD's. Sharing this award with nine other fine area musicians, this award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of Dan Daniels, his stalwart collaborator, Guy Wallis and the other fine musicians who played a part in the making of this album. Beginning in February of 2006 with the laying down of the rhythm tracks in the Blandford house, to the long slow process of building the CD throughout that year and into the Sring of 2007, this labor of love has been rewarded with this coveted honor. |
December 19, 2007 : New Song "Get Back Home" Moves Up The Charts in Neil Young
The new single "Get Back Home" by Dan Daniels and YNGB has moved up the charts on Neil Young's "Songs of the Times" in its first week to #198 out of over 2300 songs. "Songs of the Times" is a sight where people can post their songs of protest and social commentary in the "Living With War" page at neilyoung.com. "Get Back Home" is a hard hitting song catgorizing many of the problems that the Bush Administrangulation has either caused or made worse during its disastorous 7 years in office such as wildfires due to global warming, violence in our streets, the aftermath of Hurrican Katrina, the scourge of homelessness, and of course the god-damned Iraq War.
It is also a damn fine song and features a truly amazing mandolin solo by our own Kurt Hansen. You can check it out at www.neilyoung.com,"Living With War", "Songs of the Times" or directly at www.myspace.com/ddandyngb. |

June 08, 2007 : Dan Daniels and Your No Good Buddies release new CD - GEEZER ROCK
On Sunday May 27th, Dan Daniels and Your No Good Buddies released their second album of original Dan Daniels compositions, entitled "GEEZER ROCK". From the opening song "Away From You, Back to You" to the final cut "The Rendezvous" it's a rockin', mostly uptempo, slice of musical life, telling stories of love lost and found, of redemption and disasters, of sorrow and joy. The title song "Geezer Rock" , tells of what rock and roll music has meant to the "Baby Boom" generation and how it will help us carry on into the future. "Phantom Woman" is a haunting tale of runaway love, while "The Rebound" tells of the redeeming nature of a new love, rising from the ashes of lost love. "The Flapper and the Devil" tells of the meeting of two dance hall stars in a cajun-flavored setting, while "Winter Blues" ties in the meanest season and a crushing end to a relationship. "Forbidden Love" and "The Flood of "55" are tales of disasters both man made and natural. "Do What You Do", shows the mind of a man who though not having yet met his dream girl, sees her daily as they pass on their way to work. "In My Arms Again", the sole ballad on the disk, is a heartfelt and beautiful, song of loss and longing. And then there is "Sweet Lovin' Woman" featuring the guitar work of the masterful Hal Benoit, on a "Blues" song, that sings the praises of a wonderful woman, but does such a one really exist?
Joined by the Buddies (Dan M., Shawn and Richie) as well as a stellar cast of sidemen, such as Doug Tanner on fiddle and mandolin, Kurt Hansen on mandolin, Jose Ruiz on finger style classical Spanish guitar, and Guy Wallis on almost everything else, as well as production and engineering, and the afore-mentioned Hal Benoit, this new CD, offers a variety of sounds from rock , to country, to island, to Cajun. Come and listen to GEEZER ROCK and you'll see. It's a must have album. Get it at www.yngb.com or at local record shops in Westfield, Amherst, or Northampton. |
